Responsible Mohair Standard - RMS

In 2020 IMT UK Ltd acquired the certification for RMS - Our Mohair supply chain is certified to the Responsible Mohair Standard.

Following on from our previous commitment to Sustainability, the Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS) states the following -

Products certified to the RMS contain mohair fibre from farms (independently) certified to animal welfare and land management requirements.
The RMS describes and (independently) certifies animal welfare and land management practices in mohair fibre production and tracks the certified material from farm to final product.
The purchase of RMS certified products demonstrates demand for (better) animal welfare practices and (responsible) land management in the mohair fibre supply chain.

For its part, IMT UK Ltd buys RMS certified mohair from RMS accredited farmers and, as a certified business itself, can then maintain a chain of custody as the material is acquired and shipped, then processed and sold to spinners worldwide. A Transaction Certificate is issued at each stage to track the movement of the mohair fibre through the various stages of production and delivery up to the final product.

We use RMS certified processing in the manufacture of our Mohair Tops and then, by selling to RMS certified spinners, ensure that we have played our part in continuing the supply chain which eventually results in RMS certified mohair guaranteed in the retail environment.

Responsible Alpaca Standard - RAS

In 2024 IMT UK Ltd acquired the certification for RAS - Our Alpaca supply chain is certified to the Responsible Alpaca Standard.

In much the same way as the RMS, the Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS) focuses on the improvement of the welfare of alpacas and the environments in which they are raised

The Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS) is a voluntary standard that requires all parts of the supply-chain, from alpaca farms through to the seller in the final business-to-business transaction, to be certified. RAS farmers and ranchers are evaluated against the animal welfare, land management, and social requirements as set in the standard.
